Theron Ison is currently the Director of the Clinical Consultation Team in the Boroughs of the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island at a child welfare agency in Queens NY. Prior to this position, Theron held several positions in varied capacities which he attributes to helping to develop his skills and acumen for working with children and families affected by mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence.

Theron’s introduction to this field began with his working as a Substance Abuse Prevention and Intervention Specialist with adolescents in foster care and juvenile justice systems at Episcopal Social Services (now Sheltering Arms). In addition to this position, Theron worked as the Substance Abuse/Mental Health Consultant for the Clinical Consultation Program Palladia Inc. (the Morris Park Ave location in the Bronx). In another capacity, having honed his ability to assess and treat individuals subjected to Domestic Violence, Theron moved on to become a Team Coordinator for the Clinical Consultation Program with the Child Center of New York in his home borough of Queens NY. There Theron worked in the capacity of Team Coordinator for several years before being promoted as an Assistant Director with the organization. A few months after this appointment, Theron was promoted to the Director of the Clinical Consultation Program for the Bronx.
Theron holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University and is a NYS Licensed Master of Social Work. Theron’ s prior education includes a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Science from S.U.N.Y. at New Paltz and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences in Alcohol and Drug Abuse from Sullivan County Community College (Loch Sheldrake, N.Y.) Theron also obtained his Certification in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC).
Theron brings with him over two decades of experience working with individuals of varying ages and families around concerns with mental illness, substance abuse and People Living with AIDS (PLWA) in a variety of settings such as child welfare, juvenile detention, adult incarceration and re-entry, substance abuse recovery and community based settings outpatient and therapeutic communities. At present, he is in the process of building a private practice, W1secon LLC, to work with children and families impacted by mental illness, substance abuse and domestic violence.
